Worst Commercial Fishing Season in 40 years

Tim Purdy says this is the worst commercial fishing season on Lake Huron in 40 years. The co-owner of Purdy's Fisheries says they simply aren't catching any perch, pickerel or whitefish and it's no better elsewhere. [audio mp3="http://blackburnnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Tim-Purdy-2.mp3"][/audio] Purdy says their Sarnia store will continue to serve dockside fish and chips until Thanksgiving, but if things don't improve, he may be forced to layoff staff. He had to close the Grand Bend shop a month early because of lack of stock.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
