Child Seriously Hurt In Farm Accident

The Ministry of Labour and OPP are investigating after a boy, 8, became stuck in the front end of a corn harvester. OPP were called to a rural property on Line 12 north of St. Marys around 5pm on September 18. Investigators say a 66-year-old man was driving a tractor with an attached corn harvester towing a wagon. When the operator looked out the back window he saw the child caught in the front head of the harvester. The tractor was shut down and the child was released. The young boy was taken to a London hospital and treated for what police are calling "life altering injuries." OPP are issuing a reminder to be extra careful during harvest season.
