Homeowner Fined Again For Too Many Bedrooms

For the second time since 2013, the owner of a home in northwest London has been fined for having too many bedrooms in a home.

Bylaw officers with the City of London inspected the home on Beaverbrook Ave. after a complaint from a neighbour.

“This was one of the most intensified single detached dwellings we have seen," says Orest Katolyk, London's chief bylaw enforcement officer. "Nine bedrooms were created with additional beds in closets and the furnace room.”

The homeowner was convicted and fined $2500 and issued a probation order not to re-offend for a period of two years.

It's not the first time this home has been the subject of fines for violating the bylaw regulating how many bedrooms can be in a home in a residential zone. In 2013, the same property owner was convicted for "permitting dwelling units in a residential zone containing more than five bedrooms."
