London police are zeroing in on bad driver behaviours as part of Canada Road Safety Week.
The national campaign, which runs May 17-23, is aimed at making the country's roads the safest in the world by 2025.
Throughout the week long initiative, police in London and across Canada will have zero tolerance for distracted, aggressive, and impaired driving. They will also be on the look out for those not wearing seatbelts.
"The deaths, pain and broken hearts that result from carelessness behind the wheel can be prevented," says Sergeant Amanda Pfeffer. "Police agencies across the country are collaborating on this initiative and asking you to choose safe behaviours while travelling on our roadways, whether you are driving or a passenger.
Police say they have seen several deaths and serious injuries over the last three years from collisions.
The safety campaign will see an increased police presence on roadways with both directed patrols and plain-clothes operations. Several RIDE programs will also be set-up throughout the city.
