Toddler Escapes With Minor Injuries After Two Story Fall

Police are reminding parents of the importance of installing child safety locks after a toddler fell from a second story window in Simcoe.

Norfolk OPP say a two-year-old boy tumbled out of the window at a home on Queen St. N around 12:55pm Tuesday. Despite landing on concrete, police say he suffered only minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

Officers have since determined the boy climbed a dresser near a window in his room and leaned against the screen. The screen gave way causing the child to fall to the concrete below.

Police say the incident is not considered suspicious but the Haldimand and Norfolk Children’s Aid Society has been notified.

Parents are encouraged to install child safety locking devices on all windows that children are able to reach and are advised to keep furniture away from windows to discourage children from climbing.
