A national Jewish human rights group has contacted London police regarding a reportedly anti-Semitic newspaper article that denies the existence of the Holocaust.
The Jewish group B’nai Brith says the article, which was printed in the London Arabic newspaper Al-Saraha, denies that 6-million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust, and that Jews caused most of the economic collapses that occurred in banks between 1870 and 1920.
B’nai Brith spokesperson Marty York says the article was brought to the organization's attention earlier in the week and after having it translated, found that it was "very offensive and disturbing."
"We certainly do hope there will be some action. It is a hate message at the very least, it's filled with lies and falsehoods," he says. "It is an anti-Semitic article, without question, and I know we've had literally hundreds of irate people reacting to this.
"You just can't print articles like this in this country."
B’nai Brith has also contacted the office of Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne, as well as members of her Liberal caucus, who appeared in a full-page Ramadan message in Al-Saraha, pages after the article.
London police say they are investigating to determine if there has been a Criminal Code offence.
