A date has been been set for a coroner's inquest into the death of an inmate of the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre.
Jamie High, 40, was pronounced dead at the London Health Sciences Centre on December 23, 2014 after he was rushed to the hospital from the jail. He had been found unresponsive in his cell and efforts by jail staff to revive him were unsuccessful.
The inquest will begin at 10am on Monday, November 7. It will be held at the Best Western Stoneridge Inn and will examine the events surrounding High's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest is expected to last five days and to hear from approximately 20 witnesses.
Dr. Elizabeth Urbantke will preside as inquest coroner and Heather Palin will be counsel to the coroner.
