The Halifax Hurricanes capped a furious fourth quarter to steal Game 2 of the NBLC Finals from the London Lightning.
The Hurricanes outscored the Lightning 33-22 in the fourth quarter and survived some late chances to beat London 111-110 at Budweiser Gardens. This ties the best-of-seven finals series at a game each.
Halifax started the game off strong and maintained a five-point lead over London after one quarter, then the Lightning struck back and held a 53-47 lead at halftime. London stayed ahead of the Hurricanes in the third before Halifax mounted its charge in the fourth.
Garrett Williamson sank two crucial free throws with just over 18 seconds left in regulation to pull London within a point. However, Ryan Anderson missed a three-point shot at the buzzer that would have given the Lightning a big win.
Royce White scored 29 points and had ten rebounds for London and a double-double. Kyle Johnson added 24 points while Williamson sank 18.
For Halifax, Antoine Mason and C.J. Washington each had 27 points, while Washington led on defence with 12 boards. Tyrone Watson brought down 16 points.
The next two games will be in Halifax with Game 3 of the best-of-seven series Tuesday night. Tipoff is 7pm. The two rivals will play Game 4 Thursday night in Halifax followed by Game 5 Sunday afternoon.
