The 25-year-old London man charged with second degree murder in the death of Josie Glenn made a brief court appearance Friday.
Oluwatobi Boyede said nothing more than his name and date of birth during the five minute video appearance from the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre. He spoke privately with a representative from his defence lawyer Keli Mersereau's office. The representative told the court Mersereau is awaiting more disclosure from the Crown and asked that the case be put over until next week.
Boyede's next court appearance on the murder charge is scheduled for November 10. He will again appear by video.
Charges of second degree murder and offering an indignity to a human body were laid against Boyede after the remains of Sarnia-native Josephine (Josie) Glenn were found at a home at 252 South Leakside Circle on October 27. The discovery was made five days after Glenn was reported missing.
As part of the on-going investigation, London police have been draining the stormwater collection pond in Meadowgate Park, which is just a few blocks away from the home were Glenn's remains were found. They have not indicated what they are hoping to find in the pond, citing a publication ban on all evidence in relation to the case.
Boyede had previously been charged with assaulting a woman and sexual assaulting, choking, and forcibly confining another woman in two separate incidents in February of this year. He will make a video appearance on those charges on November 24.
A preliminary hearing on those charges is also slated for March 5.
