The Middlesex London Health Unit is looking for community input on its plan to deal with London’s drug crisis.
It has launched an online survey and announced the dates of a series of five public meetings for Londoners to weigh in on the drug and alcohol steering committee's 29 draft recommendations for treatment, harm reduction, enforcement, and prevention.
The input gathered will be used to shape the final strategy for the region, according to the health unit.
Public sessions will begin next week and continue into March.
- February 27, Strathroy Library at 34 Frank St., 6pm to 8pm.
- February 28, Dorchester Library at 2123 Dorchester Rd., 6pm to 8pm.
- March 1, London Central Library at 251 Dundas St., 6pm to 8pm.
- March 5, South London Community Centre at 1119 Jalna Blvd., 6pm to 8pm.
- March 6, London East Social Services at 1835 Dundas St., 6pm to 8pm.
Following similar public consultation meetings, the health unit opened the doors on Ontario's first Temporary Overdose Prevention Site at 186 King St. in London earlier this month. The facility allows drug users a safe space to consume narcotics without fear of a fatal overdose.
