Police release photo of murder suspect

A week after a 21-year-old man was shot dead outside of an east-end Tim Hortons, London police have released a photo of the man they believe pulled the trigger.

The image of Zachary McDermott, 18, is from surveillance video taken on September 12, the same day Christopher Clements-Card was fatally shot in the Tim Hortons parking lot at 2094 Dundas St. Clements-Card was rushed to hospital where he later died from his injuries. Another person who was with him at the time of the shooting was not physically hurt.

The firearm that was used has yet to be found, according to police.

An arrest warrant for McDermott was issued on September 14. He is charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder by discharging a firearm.

Two other men, Abel Tesfalem, 19, and Joseph Sibo, 19, were arrested in relation to the murder. They are charged with being an occupant in a motor vehicle with a firearm.

While McDermott remains on the run, police are reminding the public it is a criminal offence for anyone who receives, comforts, or assists a murder suspect in evading arrest.

The on-going investigation includes any information received regarding those who may be assisting McDermott, according to police.

McDermott is described as Caucasian, approximately 5’9” with a slim build, and reddish-blond hair that is cut shorter on the sides. Anyone who knows where the 18-year-old murder suspect may be is advised not to approach him but to call 911 immediately.

Those with information about the shooting can call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
