Canadian musicians, no matter the genre, can now apply for a coveted spot to perform at a two-night Junos celebration of music, when the 48th annual awards show comes to London next year.
Artist submissions for JUNOfest opened on Thursday.
The two-night festival will see more than 100 Canadian musicians, including those from London, perform at 15 different venues throughout the city March 15 and 16.
“We are very excited to be bringing JUNOfest to London for the first time,” said Katy Venneri, director of events for the Juno Awards and the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. “We are looking forward to showcasing the best musical talent London and Canada have to offer and make this year's JUNOfest a success for everyone involved.”
Canadian solo acts and full bands from all genres are encouraged to apply at www.junofestsubmissions.ca. There is a $20 application fee and the deadline to submit is December 21.
Organizers have said priority will be given to London-area performers and Juno Award nominees.
Past artists to play at JUNOfest include Jim Cuddy, Sloan, Arkells, The Sheepdogs, Whitehorse, and Billy Talent.
