A hit to the head of a Kitchener Rangers player has led to an eight-game suspension for a member of the London Knights.
The Ontario Hockey League announced Friday that it had handed the penalty to Cole Tymkin after the incident on December 28. Tymkin was initially handed an indefinite suspension after his shoulder connected with the head of the Rangers' Isaac Langdon last Saturday. Because Tymkin then sat out the Knights' games against Sarnia on December 29 and December 31, he will have six games remaining in his suspension.
In a statement issued on Friday, the OHL said the length of the suspension was based on the fact that Tymkin's hit was to the head of an unsuspecting player and that it resulted in injury.
Tymkin will be eligible to return to the Knights lineup on January 19 when they play Erie.
