A popular Mediterranean restaurant, known for its charitable contributions to London, has found itself the target of vandals over the past two weeks.
Shelby’s Food Express has had two of its brick-and-mortar locations and its food truck damaged in separate incidents since January 25.
"We always like showing the good side to our business. This is the bad side," the eatery said in a Facebook post about the attacks.
The location at 223 Horton Street was first to be broken into with tables being stolen. The, the tires on the business' food truck were slashed. That was followed by the most recent incident, which saw the windows and doors at 802 Exeter Road smashed.
"It’s honestly very disturbing and unfortunate that someone can do this. We only wish peace and love for everyone," the Facebook post, which has been shared more than 200 times, concluded.
A damage estimate has not been released, but London police have confirmed they are investigating the theft and vandalism. At this point, police have found no evidence to indicate the incidents at the different locations are related and have made no arrests.
Shelby's has held numerous charity events over the years, including serving up 200 free meals to the less fortunate in 2016 and providing hot meals to those affected by last summer's explosion in Old East Village. Last October, it opened the doors to its Horton Street location to dozens of pajama-clad boarding school students displaced by a late night gas leak.
