Two charged after police seize $70K worth of stolen property

Police in Elgin, Middlesex, and Oxford counties nabbed two people alleged to have been involved in a spree of property crimes across southwestern Ontario.

The OPP began the investigation back in November 2020, investigating numerous reports of vehicle thefts, stolen credit cards, and multiple property thefts of tools, electronics, and other goods.

On January 8, with the assistance of the London Police Service, officers located two suspects in a local hotel room and arrested them without incident.

During the probe, police seized an estimated $70,000 worth of stolen property including two vehicles, 10 garage door openers, stolen identification, wallets, and other items.

Dale Walter Brooks, 30, of Thames Centre faces a total of 27 charges. The second accused, 24-year-old Shayla Nicole Hanna of London, faces ten charges.

Brooks has been remanded into custody pending a future court date, while Hanna has been released on a recognizance pending a future court date.
