Police looking for suspect after stabbing downtown

London police are asking for the public's help as they investigate a stabbing downtown that sent a 30-year-old man to hospital.

A 911 call about a possible stabbing at an apartment building on King Street near Talbot Street came in around 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday. When officers arrived they found a number of people assisting a man who was suffering from an apparent stab wound.

Officers applied a tourniquet to the 30-year-old's wound to slow the bleeding until paramedics arrived. The man was then taken to hospital where he remained as of Wednesday morning with injuries described as serious but non-life threatening.

Police searched the area where the stabbing took place but where unable to find a suspect. They are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

There is currently no description of the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
