Several new cases of COVID-19 were detected at regional public schools by Thames Valley District School Board officials on Wednesday.
The board identified a total of three new cases, one at Strathroy District Collegiate Institute while the other two were linked to Glendale High School and Westfield Public School, both in Tillsonburg. The two schools currently have five cases apiece with Westfield being in official outbreak status.
Southwestern Public Health continues to investigate the cases the school board said and will follow up directly with those considered to be a close contact.
"If you do not receive a letter from Thames Valley indicating the public health unit has identified your child as a close contact, your child is not considered to be at risk," a statement from the TVDSB read. "Only those staff and students who have been identified as a close contact will be notified and advised to stay home from school and quarantine for a period of 10 days."
As of late Wednesday evening, there are 68 active cases of COVID-19 within various public schools across the London-area. More details on the cases and where they are presently active can be found on the school board's website.
