Thames Valley reports more school outbreaks, positive COVID-19 cases

The area's public school board continues to rack up new positive COVID-19 cases and outbreaks.

On Tuesday, the Thames Valley District School Board reported a total of 18 new cases, two new outbreaks at 11 London-area schools including:

•A.B. Lucas Secondary School (three cases) •Byron Somerset Public School •Central Elgin Collegiate Institute (three cases) •Clarke Road Secondary School •Dunwich-Dutton Public School (outbreak declared) •H.B. Beal Secondary School (outbreak declared) •J.S.Buchanan French Immersion Public School •Laurie Hawkins Public School (two cases) •London Central Secondary School •Sir Arthur Currie Public School (three cases) •Thamesford Public School

"Thames Valley wishes to assure the community that all staff, parents and guardians of the school communities were immediately notified," read a statement from the TVDSB. "Health units investigate cases to identify close contacts and follow up directly to provide specific testing advice."

The school board said only staff and students who have been notified about being a close contact will be advised to stay home and self-isolate for 10 days. Those determined to have been a close contact with an infected individual, from either Monday or Tuesday's case counts, may have a chance at enjoying the final few days of the holiday break before classes resume again on January 3, 2022.

More details on active cases within the TVDSB can be found on the board's website.
