A well known London advocate is taking on a new role.
On Thursday, the London Police Services Board announced that Megan Walker has been appointed to the board, and will start her term on January 4, 2022.
Walker has been a member of London City Council, but she's best known for her work with the London Abused Women's Centre, where she was the executive director until retiring in August.

"Megan is a recipient of the Governor General’s 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Medal (1992) and Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012). She also received the Joy Smith Foundation Award for Courage (2017)," the board added in a news release.
Walker's current term only lasts until February 28, 2022, but it's expected that she'll be approved for a three year term shortly after she starts.
She joins lawyer Ali Chahbar, who was appointed earlier this month, as new members of the board.
