All lanes of Highway 402 at Highway 401 have been reopened following a closure Saturday morning that lasted about five hours due to poor weather and road conditions.
OPP closed the eastbound and westbound lanes of Hwy. 402 between Hwy. 401 and Kerwood Road Saturday morning at around 6:15 a.m. All lanes of Hwy. 402 were reopened around 11:15 a.m.
In a video posted to Twitter, West Region OPP Acting Sgt. Ed Sanchuck urged motorists to stay home if possible.
"Please drive safely, slow down, drive according to road and weather conditions and just get to where you're going safely," said Sanchuck.
OPP issued a traffic advisory shortly after 10 a.m., as secondary roads in Huron County and South Bruce were also closed to ensure drivers' safety.
In an update posted to Twitter shortly after 10:30 a.m., Sanchuck said there have been over 197 crashes in the west region since 12 a.m.
Sarnia-Lambton remains under a special weather statement due to strong wind gusts, while London-Middlesex is under a blowing snow advisory.
