Londoners can ditch old electronics at Budweiser Gardens Sunday

Got an old tablet or cellphone you no longer want? Drop them off at Budweiser Gardens this Sunday.

The downtown venue has partnered with Waste Connections of Canada to host a free electronic recycling day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The aim of the event is to provide Londoners with a way to safely dispose of any unwanted devices they may have lying around.

All electronics will be accepted.

"After a 2-year break, we are excited to once again host this great community event and hope that folks will utilize this opportunity to clear out old cell phones, computers and other electronics in a safe and environmentally friendly manner,” said Brian Ohl, general manager of Budweiser Gardens.

In addition to taking electronic waste, a shredder truck will be on site to dispose of confidential documents. All papers dropped off to shred must be free of paper clips, staples and binders. Items that will not be taken during the five hour recycling event include major appliances such as fridges, stoves, washers, dryers, and freezers.

Drop-off collection will be happening at Budweiser Gardens west parking lot off of Ridout Street.

While there is no charge for electronic recycling or document shredding, Waste Connections will be accepting donations for its annual Christmas Promise Bike Build initiative. The program has seen the company donate over 43,000 bicycles to kids in need over the past 23 years.
