Several blocks of King Street will be closed overnight starting Sunday evening before reopening early Wednesday morning.
As part of the East London Link Project, King Street between Wellington and Lyle Streets will be shut down at 8 p.m. for paving operations on September 10, 11, and 12, and reopen at 6 a.m. the following day. The work will be completed as follows.
On Sunday, King Street between Wellington Street and the west side of Colborne Street.
On Monday, King Street from the west side of Colborne Street to the west side of Adelaide Street.
On Tuesday, King Street from the west side of Adelaide to the west side of Lyle Street, including the Adelaide intersection.
North and south traffic will be maintained through the Adelaide Street North and King Street intersection while work is underway.
The work is part of a multi-year project that will transform more than six kilometres of road from the downtown core to Fanshawe College, adding transportation and transit improvements above ground, while repairing and replacing ageing sewers, water mains, and other underground infrastructure.
“The East London Link has received funding commitments from the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario to support ten transit and transit-supportive projects,” read a statement from the City of London.
The paving work being done starting Sunday is part of finishing work on Phase 1 of the project to prepare the road for surface painting in the coming weeks. Pre-markings will help guide drivers.
