Penalty free overnight on-street parking returns to most London streets on Wednesday.
The City of London is once again lifting the ban on overnight parking for the season. This will allow drivers to leave their vehicles parked on city streets between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. without first having to acquire a special parking pass. Overnight parking passes are required under the Consolidated Traffic and Parking By-law from the start of November until the end of April.
Despite the easing of restrictions, no vehicle can be left parked on a city street for longer than 18 hours at a time. Vehicles can also not be left where parking is otherwise prohibited or restricted including in front of fire hydrants, on boulevards, front lawns, or streets identified by signs as being enforced.
The overnight by-law exemption does not apply to commercial motor vehicles, mobile homes, or trailers, which have their own regulations, the city reminded.
The overnight parking ban will resume on November 1.
