Three Midwestern Ontario proposals are into the semi finals for support from the Aviva Community Fund.
A proposed new playground at Holy Family School in Hanover needs $100,000 to replace the current playground which has flooding issues.
The current playground has severe drainage problems leaving large lakes of water and mud after rain or when snow thaws.
The St. Marys Youth Centre wants funding for an upgraded, inclusive playground at historic Cadzow Park.
Cadzow Park is also home to the St. Marys Museum. The gift of funding to Cadzow Park would provide playground equipment for the recreation and enjoyment of the entire community. The existing playground equipment is well over 20-100 years old and is still used daily by children, despite its physical size and visible limitations
And the Georgian Bay Treatment Centre for Youth near Paisley is looking for funding to open the Seven Bridges facility to treat alcohol and drug misuse, and prevent teen suicides.
Seven Bridges would provide the much needed residential treatment for up to 50 young people. The Seven Bridges Project’s goal is to allow students to work towards physical, emotional, spiritual and mental recovery through the bridging from a life of addiction to a life of acceptance, patience, purpose, healing, healthy relationships, reconciliation and celebration.
