Owen Sound's New Mayor Wants to Grow Economy

Owen Sound's new mayor accepted the chain of office at city council's inaugural meeting last night.

Ian Boddy along with deputy mayor Arlene Wright and seven councillors were sworn at a ceremony at the city's Roxy Theatre. Five of the seven councillors are new to the job.

Boddy says the immediate challenge for the new council is to create a climate to grow the Owen Sound economy.

"We've got lots of different ideas, I hope we don't agree on everything because we're not supposed to but I think that we will work together to come up with the best ideas, reach the best consensus we can."
