Bruce Telecom Sale Subject of Two Meetings This Week

The proposed sale of Bruce Telecom is the big issue on the table for Kincardine's new council.

After the declarations of office tonight, a delegation is scheduled to appear before Kincardine councillors, asking for public input into the future of Bruce Telecom.

Members of the delegation also want answers to questions about the longevity of Bruce Telecom and possible business models.

The issue has been at the forefront since August when the Competition Bureau stated that the deal between Bragg Communications, which owns Eastlink, and Bruce Telecom was off, due to competition within Bruce County. Bragg also stated it was pulling out of the proposal.

Tonight's Kincardine council meeting starts at 5pm.

There is also a closed meeting scheduled for tomorrow at 5pm to deal specifically with the Bruce Telecom issue.
