Chesley, Durham Hospitals Use Automated Medication Dispensing

Medication improvements are being made at the hospitals in Chesley and Durham.

Both sites now have an automated dispensing system and will use unit dose medication packaging. They are the final two sites of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre to install the technology.

It is designed to reduce medication errors and increase the accuracy, as well as efficiency of medication delivery.

The Chesley and District Health Services Foundation and the Durham and Community Health Care Foundation provided financial support for the renovations needed to accomodate the new equipment.

Medication dispensing system's at the Kincardine and Walkerton hospitals were unveiled last November.

"The safety of our patients is our top priority," says Paul Rosebush, SBGHC president and CEO. "The sophistication of this technology will greatly reduce the potential for error."
