The intersection of McDonald Line and C-Line Rd. remains closed as police investigate an overnight single-vehicle crash.
The driver of the vehicle involved is in police custody facing three criminal charges.
Huron County OPP officers were alerted by South Bruce OPP to be on the lookout for a Pontiac Grand Prix that had fled from officers in Bruce County a few hours earlier.
At about 12:20am this morning, Huron County OPP officers spotted the suspect vehicle heading southbound from Wroxeter on Brussels Line. Officers activated their emergency lights and siren and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, but the driver fled at high speed and after following for a short distance officers terminated their pursuit.
A short time later officers located the suspect vehicle in a corn field near the intersection of C Line Road and McDonald Line. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle had been partially ejected from the torn apart car.
Officers tended to the driver and provided first aid until Huron County EMS arrived. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
29-year-old Anthony Dillon of Brussels has been charged with flight from police, dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.
He remains in custody pending a court appearance Monday in Goderich.
The OPP contacted the province's Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and was advised initially they were not going to invoke their mandate. The SIU has subsequently elected to invoke its mandate.
