A one-night-only performance at the Huron County Museum in Goderich this week is expected to attract a lot of history buffs.
It's called 'Letters From Home'. It's a local perspective on Canada's war experiences through an evening of letter-reading and storytelling.
Most of the letters were written by Huron County soldiers to their loved ones and friends back home. They've been selected from documents and photographs, archived at the Huron County Museum.
Audience members will also be invited to write a letter of their own that they might have sent back to the soldiers, responding with their own feelings.
'Letters From Home' starts at 6:30 Thursday evening at the Huron County Museum. It's part of the joint project activities of the Blyth Arts and Culture Initiative 14-19 Inc., the Women’s Institute Project, and the Huron County Museum.
Archivist Jenna Leifso explains; "These are stories of the families and their soldiers. By presenting these letters we are able to explore and share not only what the soldiers were thinking and feeling, but also what their loved ones - parents, siblings and girlfriends - might have felt about the war."
