A Drayton family, whose 3-year-old son is battling leukemia, says they are grateful for receiving a massive gift from a local company.
On Wednesday, Arthurs Fuel replaced the Conway’s aging furnace free of charge, which would usually cost around $4,000.
The Conway’s 3-year-old son Evan was diagnosed with leukemia in October, and has been in-and-out of hospital in Hamilton ever since.
Evan’s mother Maggie had to quit her job during her son's treatment, which is expected to take two-and-a-half years to complete.
“On a scale of one to ten, we’re still in the ‘one’ stage,” Bill Conway, Evan’s father, told CKNX during the furnace installation. “He was at the hospital in Hamilton until the 23rd, so he was home for Christmas, but has been an outpatient ever since.”
Officials who did the installation (pictured below) said the furnace was up to 30 years-old, and could quit working at any moment.

“There was no hesitations from York or Arthurs Fuel, who I work for, to come out and do this.” Matt Dorscht, the Conway’s neighbour, told CKNX News. “I just thought, like a good neighbour, why not help out?"
