Walkerton-native Ben Caldecott competes in the Special Olympics as speedskater and held the torch during the run at Walkerton District Community School.

"I got hold to hold the torch and lead off one lap around the track but I kinda didn't trust the torch while running. I didn't wanna catch my hair on fire," Caldecott told CKNX News after the event, "It feels good to have a community here to support you."

The province-wide initiative raises money for Special Olympics Ontario.

As of 2012, over $42-million had been raised through the movement according to Law Enforcement Torch Run officials.
