Meaford To Consider Coat Of Arms Design Ideas

Meaford Mayor Barb Clumpus and other members of a nine-person committee are assembling design ideas for a coat of arms for Meaford.

Before they proceed much further, Clumpus and the committee would like to gather some ideas from other Meaford residents about the design.

The committee has arranged for two drop-in sessions to hear from the public.

The first will be held at the Sydenham Depot at on Grey Rd. 11 onThursday, September 17. The second drop-in session will be at Meaford Museum on Monday, September 21.

Each session will run from 2pm to 4pm with a draft sketch and description of the coat of arms available at both sessions.

The goal in designing a coat of arms is to bring together symbols that reflect and represent the identity and history of the municipality.

Once the committee and other residents have decided on the most suitable design ideas the committee will send the designs to the Canadian Heraldic Authority.

Meaford will use its coat of arms for ceremonial and protocol purposes.
