Teens Rebuilding Inukshuks Along Goderich Beach

Inukshuks have re-appeared on the Rotary Cove Beach in Goderich.

More than 100 of the miniature stone statues mysteriously appeared on the beach over the last couple of weeks, only to be destroyed Monday night.

Late Wednesday evening, over fifty Inukshuks had been rebuilt on the Rotary Cove Beach and three high school students were in the process of building more.

18-year old Abbey Rol explained she wanted to be part of the rebuild after seeing the story on Facebook. Joining her were Cody McConnel and Carley Henderson.

Rol thinks the Inukshuks represent the community coming together and building together.

Henderson added that she understood the original Inukshuks were put up as a tribute to a Goderich teenager who drowned earlier this summer in Kincardine.

Goderich Mayor Kevin Morrison says the Inukshuks are a positive thing that was good for the community and he wasn't surprised to see Goderich young people rise to the challenge and rebuild them.
