West Grey Gets Action Plan Input

West Grey wants the community to help come up with ideas for its 2020 Action Plan.

Council hired consultant Bill Winegard who has already met with community organizations and representatives to gather input.

Winegard says he asked people across the community what challenges and opportunities face West Grey, and what action the municipality can take.

He says some common themes emerged, such as the need to pave or re-pave roads, accelerate the expansion of broadband internet, and attract new industrial jobs, young families, and retirees.

People also wanted to see vitality return to village downtowns, support for agriculture and volunteer groups, and community input on municipal decisions.

And residents also pointed out the need promote tourism, markets, festivals and natural attractions.

Wingard says he also heard opposing views on issues like taxes, community hall maintenance, and infrastructure.

He talked to people at the three fire halls , at seniors organizations, women's institutes, farmers and business people.

West Grey Council will gather further public input before finalizing the 2020 action plan in January.
