The Lion's Club Recreation Centre in Formosa needs a new roof and South Bruce Council has been asked to pitch in.
At Tuesday night's council meeting, Lion's Club Members Phil Weber and Pat Strauss made their case, citing a leaky shingled roof that is falling apart, and it's only 15 years old.
"It's very bad, it's time to replace it," says Weber.
Both Weber and Strauss would like to see it replaced with something much more durable and cost effective.
"A steel roof, definitely, "says Weber. "It would last longer, it's cheaper in the long run."
The lifespan of the average asphalt shingle roof is 15 to 20 years, while a steel roof can last up to 50 years or longer.
Council was receptive to the idea but said they would have to take the mater to the Recreational Advisory Committee before moving any further.
The Recreation Centre in Formosa is owned by the Municipality of South Bruce and maintained by the Lion's Club.
