Hayashi Expanding Stratford Production Plant

Stratford Mayor Dan Mathieson has signed an expansion agreement with a major automotive parts manufacturer in Japan.

Mathieson is in Japan, where he signed an agreement with the leadership of Hayashi as part of their commitment to expand the Hayashi Canada automotive parts plant in Stratford.

It commits to a $12.5-million investment in the facility and equipment, and promises new manufacturing jobs for Stratford.

Hayashi opened it's 90,000 sq ft facility in Stratford in 2007. The original workforce of 54 has grown to over 150 people.

The plant supplies automotive interior trim and acoustical products to Toyota's assembly operations in Woodstock and Cambridge.

“This is very exciting news for Stratford. Hayashi Canada is a growth company that has already invested significantly in our community. I am pleased that they are expanding their commitment and presence in our city," says Mayor Dan Mathieson.

Construction of a 60,000 sq ft expansion at the Dunn Rd. plant will begin immediately, and should be completed by next summer.

"Hayashi is an important member of our industrial family. Stratford’s spirit of innovation encourages investment in our community,” says Mathieson.

“I am very pleased with the ongoing success and growth of our organization in Stratford," says Robert MacDonald, vice president and plant manager Hayashi Canada. "Our exceptional workforce, strategic location and community support easily sums up why we are able to continuously move our business forward. The 'city team' has been invaluable through this journey.”
