Hanover Earns Economic Development Award

Hanover has earned its second straight Ontario Economic Development Award.

The municipality's LaunchPad Youth Activity and Technology Centre was honoured last night at the 59th Annual Economic Developers Council of Ontario Awards.

Economic Development and Communications Coordinator an Savanna Schaus says they are ecstatic to be recognized for regional youth retention. she credits many collaborations and partnerships which reinforce the fact they are committed to youth and to the community.

She says LaunchPad brings Hanover closer to being a youth friendly community, and slow youth migration. The program offers youth skills development, and connects them to local leaders and opportunity.

Youth have a safe welcoming inclusive and engaging environment offering programs to connect youth to the community,a nd foster positive social interaction.

The Centre is open to youth age 12 to 18, Tuesday to Friday, 3:30 to 8pm at 612 10th St. in Hanover.

“We’re so proud of the progressive work we’ve done to improve our community today and prime ourselves for the future. Thank you to the Economic Developers Council of Ontario for recognizing our accomplishments province-wide,” says Mayor Sue Paterson.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
