Owen Sound Police Host Event For MedicAlert Partnership

Owen Sound police now have fast access to information that could save lives.

They've become partners with Medic Alert Foundation Canada. Medic Alert will provide police with almost instant access to the identity and medical information of someone wearing a medic alert bracelet. The person could be suffering from dementia, wandering or otherwise in distress. Owen Sound Police Staff Sergeant Mike Daze says getting medical information quickly is crucial.

"In an emergency seconds really do matter. It can make a difference in life or death or how we get that person safely home," says Daze.

Owen Sound police and Medic Alert officials signed a memorandum of understanding at a reception in Owen Sound that puts the program in place.
