Huron Bruce Liberals Go Public

Over 50 people packed into a room at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine as the Huron Bruce Federal Liberal Association hosted its first ever public meeting.

President Virginia Schenk says the session was in keeping with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's decision to throw open the doors of the federal Liberal Party with free membership for all.

The party also wants to bolster the local riding associations, so that they can build the Liberal movement in the months and years leading up to the 2019 election.

Participants got a chance to see a new book featuring the local federal election Liberal Candidate Allen Thompson.

Thompson contributed a chapter on his experience to a Carleton University publication: The Canadian Federal Election of 2015.

He read some passages and signed some copies.

“We are following the example set by our leader, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and throwing open the doors to our party,’’ says Virginia Schenk, president of the Huron-Bruce federal Liberal riding association.
