South Huron Code of Conduct Under the Microscope

The Municipality of South Huron has reviewed its code of conduct.

Mayor Maureen Cole explains the review was done by interim CAO John Maddox, who is also an integrity commissioner but now for South Huron.

Cole says the major change from the old code of conduct is the way complaints are handled.

Cole says under the previous code when there was a complaint council formed an ethics committee and decided whether the complaint should be passed on to an integrity commissioner.

She says under the revised code, a complaint council is bypassed and it goes directly to an integrity commissioner.

Cole adds there are a few other minor changes regarding language around harassment, among other things, but the major change is the way complaints are addressed.
