Huron Tourism Strategy Will Include Arts And Culture

Huron County's Communications coordinator says there will be a much greater focus on arts and culture in the county's Tourism strategy going forward.

The county's Economic Development Board has taken over tourism promotion since the Huron Tourism Association dissolved recently.

Coordinator Scott Currie says the board will continue to use the Ontario's West Coast branding and continue to publish the Ontario's West Coast Tourism Guide.

But he adds they will also create a new Tourism Arts and Culture enabling committee that will consist of members of the Board, county councillors, county staff and tourism stakeholders. The goal is to promote tourism products related to arts and culture in the county.

Currie says they will continue to work with tourism operators as they move forward. He adds the Ontario's West Coast brand will be reviewed at the end of next year as a normal process of evaluating what their providing and what the market is buying and closing any gap that might exist between the two.

Currie says the Tourism Guide will be created in a format that utilizes best-practices in terms of design, information and online accessibility and promotion of specific events will make greater use of social media like Facebook and Twitter.
