Kincardine’s Fire Chief made recommendations to the Committee of the Whole Wednesday night for changes to the Fire Services Agreement between Kincardine and Huron-Kinloss.
While not financially based, it would see changes in response and coverage areas, according to Fire Chief Kent Padfield.
“We both do it that we have equal areas that we can share, so there’s no cost to each municipality as far as billing and that kind of stuff,” says Padfield.
Padfield says it boils down to having the closest fire station respond to an emergency.
“Both Kincardine and Huron-Kinloss recognize the importance of making sure the closest emergency vehicle gets to that scene, so with our agreement, those residents that live in Huron-Kinloss but live close to the Kincardine fire station always have since 2005 and will continue to have coverage,” notes Padfield.
Under a revised agreement, each municipality would also be responsible for its own Fire Prevention, Education and Regulations governing open air burn permits.
