Close to 60 people attended an information meeting at the Huron County Health Unit in Clinton Tuesday night to hear more about the study being conducted on possible health issues related to wind turbines.
Huron County Epidemiologist Dr. Erica Clark says they're working on the third draft of the survey which they hope to have completed by mid-January. At that time they'll pass the complete package onto an ethics committee at the University of Waterloo for approval and then begin the study.
Anyone in Huron County living within ten kilometres of a wind turbine is eligible, and they'll be notified by mail.
Clark adds the survey will include people who live within ten kilometres of a turbine and have complaints, as well as people within the 10 km radius who don't have complaints, so they can hopefully identify differences between the two groups.
There was also some question about the eligibility of people who have leases with wind energy companies.
Clark explained a non-disclosure agreement does not preclude anyone from taking part in the survey because the names of survey participants are confidential and will not be released to the public.
In a vote by show of hands, the vast majority of people at the meeting supported the direction in which the study was headed.
