No Food Trucks In Sauble Beach

South Bruce Peninsula council has changed its mind on food trucks in the municipality.

Council voted 5-0 against proceeding with a bylaw to license the mobile eateries in selected areas of the municipality, including Sauble Beach and Wiarton, just a month after rubber stamping the idea.

Mayor Janice Jackson says council decided to abandon the proposal after extensive feedback from the public.

"We've been listening to business owners in Sauble Beach in particular, some in Wiarton, and we've been listening to the residential community and of course, the tourists as well," says Jackson. "Everybody has weighed in on this issue and its been great, that's what it's all about."

Jackson says she would have preferred to test the waters with food trucks and licensed one or two in the municipality as a pilot project, but adds she respects the will of council.

She says the decision does not have an impact on the existing restaurant in Sauble Beach that uses a non-mobile food truck.
