Wellington County OPP have released their local results for the Canada Road Safety Week Campaign.
The OPP says officers investigated 18 motor vehicle collisions, with five of those resulting in injuries, and one leading to the death of a driver.
During last week's campaign, they also handed out 111 speeding tickets, and five motorists were charged with alcohol related offences.
Forty one motorists were caught not wearing a seatbelt, while five were nabbed for distracted driving. There were also tickets for failing to stop or yield, careless driving and racing.
The campaign focused on the Big Four major causes of death and injuries on the roads: impaired, aggressive and distracted driving, along with failure to wear a seatbelt.
"Traffic safety is and will continue to be a top priority," says Inspector Scott Lawson. "We are unfortunately still seeing the devastating outcomes of drivers who aren't focusing on the road and aren't abiding by traffic laws. Our officers are dedicated to the safety of the roadways and will continue watching for these drivers who are putting others at risk."
