The chair of the Goderich Recreational Park Revitalization Committee brought council up to date on their progress Monday night.
Leah Noel explained that with the $250,000 they won in the Kraft Heinz Project Play competition they have now surpassed the fundraising goal of $500,000, set by council.
She explains the budget for the project was approved at $3-million, $30,000, so that's their goal and they'll also explore any grant applications they can.
Leah adds they're hoping the tenders come in at, or below, the budgeted amount, but they recognize the possibility that they could also come in slightly higher than that, so they'll to wait until the tenders come in next month and then assess what happens after that.
"We're not unrealistic in expecting that they might be somewhat over that," stated Noel. "That's not uncommon for any kind of project like this. So that's where we're going to sit down and assess and re-assess as we move forward."
Noel says they plan to continue their fundraising as long as they continue to get support from the Goderich community.
