Man Wanted On Weapons Charges In Huron County Turns Himself In

A man has turned himself into police after the Huron County OPP issued a warrant for his arrest for weapons charges.

Police say on September 28, the owner of a stolen side-by-side utility vehicle, along with a friend, went to a residence on River Mill Line near Dungannon, where the stolen vehicle was expected to be located.  When the two men arrived at the property, there was a confrontation with 29-year-old Kody Johnson.

As the two men left the property, police say Johnson allegedly fired a shot from a rifle in the direction of their vehicle. Officers later recovered a firearm used in the incident, and a warrant was issued for Johnson's arrest.

Johnson attended the Huron County OPP Detachment Thursday morning and turned himself in.  He is now charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000
  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of cannabis resin and cannabis marijuana
  • Assault
  • Mischief
  • Two counts of failing to comply with a probation order
He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 23.
