Doctors ratify OPSEU deal at Owen Sound Family Health Organization

A new collective agreement takes effect immediately for unionized workers at the Owen Sound Family Health Organization.

Doctors have now ratified a tentative agreement to end a strike that lasted over three months.

It was announced on Wednesday that the 30 striking nurses, clerical and custodial workers had voted to ratify a new four-year agreement.

OPSEU Local 276, which represents the workers, said the agreement addresses many areas of concern including wage increases, pension clawbacks, and improved job security.  The workers walked off the job on May 22 after four years of frozen wages.

The group of physicians who own the Owen Sound Family Health Organization issued a news release thanking patients, the community, the other private businesses located at the health centre and other patient services providers for their support during the labour dispute.

The organization plans to implement a revised organizational structure which will result in new roles, with broad skill sets, to improve the patient experience, in terms of both quality of care and speed of delivery.
