Huron OPP recruiting students for Y.A.C.

The Huron County OPP detachment is making plans to form another Police-Youth Advisory Council.

Over a dozen high school students took part last year, and the intention this year is to attract even more students to the council.

A highlight for the YAC members in last year's term was the first-ever 'Emergency Services Pull-Off Event' that raised $914 for the Tanner Steffler Foundation.

The Huron OPP Police-Youth Advisory Council will start with an initial meeting in late September or early October.

The Police-YAC will have a total membership of about 20 Grade 9 to Grade 12 students from the county high schools. The council is co-chaired by a member from the Huron OPP Detachment and a student representative.

Students interested in applying are encouraged to contact their school principal or Andrea Johnston from Huron OPP at Andrea.Johnston@opp.ca.

Meetings are held monthly throughout the school year, with a one year commitment expected from members.
