Huron Pioneer Thresher's show celebrates 58th year

The Huron Pioneer Thresher and Hobby Association celebrated its 58th annual show this past weekend in Blyth.

President Doug McCann said the event attracted several thousand people.

"It attracts several thousand every year to come back to the historic way of life, our ancestors done it and it shows you how they raised their families and how they carried on in agriculture. It's a historic and an educational show," he said.

He added while there are numerous events and attractions, the thing that keeps people coming back is the other people that are there.

"There's a lot of committee chairs and volunteers that make me look good because they do a lot of work and you never have to tell them, the work's always done and it's like the older days, it's neighbour helping neighbour," said McCann.

McCann added this was his last year as president and he was there for the first show. Over the years, he's attended about 75 per cent of them.
